Volcano Radio

by jeff on June 3, 2009

On Wednesday Mohamed was interviewed by Dave Craig on Volcano Radio 88.5 FM in Lyttleton. I will get a copy of the interview and post it here or post a link to the archived show in a couple of weeks.

Volcano Radio is a local live show with a focus on building community and supporting New Zealand musicians. Carmel and Dave are some very cool people and the interview was smooth.

Mohamed shared some of his background and story of how he came to NZ and then he played the Kora. The Kora is an African harp that has a history dating back to the 5th century. After that we played a couple of rhythms with Anton on the djun djuns.

It was my first time visiting a radio station and it was a very relaxed scene. Volcano Radio is launching their new website any day now. Also, keep an ear out for a world music show they are putting together for the weekend line up.
