At Mohamed’s African drum and dance weekend we learned Dibon. Dibon is the name of a large bird, a bird of prey similar to an eagle. The bird wakes people up and knows everything. The bird is very important to the village. The melody of the Dibon’s song was heard by hunters and put to a rhythm when they came back to the village. Dibon is also used to accompany farmers returning from the fields.

Thanks to everyone who has attended our African drum and dance classes over the last two years. We’ve had heaps of good times drumming, dancing, and sharing the joy of African rhythm and dance.
